Science
It is the philosophy of the Oxbow Science Department that students enrolled in science at Oxbow will gain knowledge, skills and attitudes allowing them to be scientifically literate in order to utilize these skills and make informed decisions about science in a rapidly changing world.
Oxbow High School requires three credits in science be earned in order to graduate. Freshman participate in the standards-based courses of Earth Science or New England Landscapes, while Sophomores enroll in Biology or College Preparatory Biology. These programs are designed to give the students a solid foundation and present opportunities for learning the skills necessary to continue in basic courses offered here at Oxbow or at the Riverbend Career and Technical Center. Juniors and Seniors may choose half credit courses in Chemistry or Physics, or one credit courses in College Preparatory Chemistry or College Preparatory Physics as well as Advanced Placement Biology.
